Bennie Fourie (AD and actor)

Growing up in a family of artists as well as studying and practicing applied arts prepared
me well to start a career in Film in 2000. A practical, down to earth approach, coupled with a
natural sense for aesthetics has enabled me to stay very busy and I absolutely love this work.
After starting from the very bottom, I have had the honour of learning from the best
- working with world-renowned directors and well known local art directors, for both
local and international production companies.
Since 2010 I have acted as Art Director on commercials. On feature films, which are also
a great passion of mine, I work as an Art Director or Production Designer.
Miryam Labuschagne (Art Director)
Having studied business law at University, little did Bennie Fourie know that one of his other passions would become a career opportunity.
Assitant Director and Writer
After being given an opportunity by the Kaapland Films team and Frans Cronje to be assistant director on the film Born to Win, Bennie realized that his dream of working in film was not that far fetched. He recently finished working on his second full feature film, Mooirivier, which is due to be released February 2015. He is a hard working, hands-on assistant director that loves getting the job done. Bennie also has a great passion for writing. He is part of the writing team for Kloofstraat, a South African sitcom that is scheduled to be shot later this year. Apart from television he has written numerous stage productions and loves the whole creative process of bringing a show to life.
Actor
Bennie, as well as Kaapland Producer, Tim Theron, has been a part of the South African improvisational comedy group, Lagnes, for the last six years. It was during these six years that his passion for performing grew. After playing in various stage productions at university, he decided to try out acting for film. He was cast in a challenging role as Hendri, a quadroplegic schoolboy in the film Born to Win. He also recently starred in the film, Mooirivier, where he portrayed a university jock, Spys, in a much lighter, comedic role.
Bennie has a great passion for the South African film industry and, together with Kaapland Films, works to make it grow to compete with films internationally.
